ELR platforms for extreme distance

Past a certain distance, small inconsistencies stop being small. ELR builds are about stability and repeatability — a platform where every variable the shop can control has been controlled.

Extreme long range work exposes everything. Bedding, concentricity, optic tracking, brass prep, load consistency — errors that hide inside a half-minute group at 100 yards turn into misses at distance. An ELR build controls what can be controlled: a stiff, heavy platform, a precisely chambered barrel in a cartridge with the legs for the job, and an optic and mount combination with the elevation to get there and the tracking to be trusted.

These are typically long-action and magnum builds, specced around the distances you're shooting and the targets you're shooting at. Load development is a bigger part of an ELR build than any other — plan on it being part of the process, not an afterthought.

If you're new to the discipline, that's fine — the first conversation is about your goals and your range access, and the build follows from there.
